Funky Radio's Leon C Interviews Jack Tyson Charles

If you love your soul music and are a regular listener to Leon C on Funky Radio you will already know about Jack Tyson Charles. Son of Cathy Tyson and Craig Charles this talented British artist has been playing the London scene for several years with his brand of Epic Soul.

His first album released in 2014 (Music for Adverts) did well and more recently Restoration. Collaborating with veteran producer & multi-instrumentalist Danny Kane the sounds combines a fresh and unique blend of vintage sounds with his own influences resulting in Epic Soul.

Glory, Jack's third single from the album Restoration came out in January 2021 and there is more being released this month.

The show is airing Wednesday 17th Feb at 4pm and repeated Friday and Monday. If you don't manage to catch it, during the interview Jack was asked Leon C's Best of Three:

If you could work with any producer ever - who would it be?

Quincy Jones. He has worked with so many of the greats he would be my first choice.

If you could release a song of yours as a duet with any artist of your choosing, who would you choose?

It would be Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Marvin Gaye as these are the soul singers with the strongest soulful voices.

If you could have written any song from the past, what song would that be?

Jack chose two songs here:

Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson because Michael was at his peak here writing for the world.

It's a Man's World by James Brown - simply because it is an amazing song with great lyrics and it is one of the all time greats.

If you fancy tuning in to Leon C's show he plays a two hour set on Funky Radio with a mixture of funk, soul, gospel and jazz.
