INTRODUCING MADE IN IVYBRIDGE DIRECTORY MAGAZINE

The Shop Local, Help Local Magazine

Made in Ivybridge Magazine is a community magazine covering the beautiful South Hams area of Devon. Published by a Funky Media Agency, it has a sister magazine called Search Property & Business.

The magazine grew out of the town’s local directory, madeinivybridge.co.uk, which Cristina Axford launched in 2020. This free directory provides a platform for local businesses and the community to connect, promoting the ethos of “Shop Local, Help Local.”

There’s also a busy Facebook group that complements the directory. Made in Ivybridge Magazine is available both online and in print, with distribution across the South Hams.

If you’re passionate about the environment like I am, explore the groundbreaking community interest company Nature1, which is paving the way to more sustainability. Find out how construction and wildflower meadows are joining forces to create a greener future, I’m particularly excited about this article. I believe that it’s important to find ways to protect our environment while also meeting the needs of a growing population. Restoring the Beauty of Nature, One Meadow at a Time.

Local football is back on the map and there is the wonderful and inspirational story about the journey of Kernow Football Alliance… it’s a story of partnership, patriotism and pride.

What’s more, I haven’t forgotten about the local heroes who make the business community thrive. Get inspired by the Trencherman Awards and the West Country Women Awards, they are both featured! It’s always inspiring to hear about successful women in business too.

And because I know you’re busy, I’ve packed this issue with plenty of resources for local businesses, from advertisers to informative articles. Issue 1 – December 2022

Funky Media Magazine

Welcome to the first edition of Funky Media Magazine. I am very excited to bring you some fabulous content to inspire and guide you.

This month we focus on Empowering Women and Hospitality & Retail. Empowering women has always been the ethos of Funky Media. Quite often women of all ages lack the confidence to take bold steps and I am a firm believer that as women are multi-skilled being mums, wives, daughters, employees, managers, confidantes, money managers, house managers and amazing diary managers… they are well equpped to navigate the waters of business.

In this issue, we talk to two inspiring women who not only started their own business but through battling menopause and peri-menopause, new and more rewarding careers emerged. There’s also some great advice from nutritional therapist Nikki Harris to help navigate you through menopause.

The Devon Food & Drink awards was a great night that recognised some of the amazing people and businesses in this region I spent many years in the hospitality and retail sectors early in my career, so I know the hard work and determination it takes to create success.

I hope you have as much fun reading this edition as we did creating it!
